PMU Lips

Aftercare for Lip Blushing/Lip Neutralization permanent makeup techniques.

Lips heal more quickly than other cosmetic tattoo areas, typically within 4–5 days, but they also require extra care since they’re constantly in motion and exposed to moisture. Healing for both lip blushing and lip neutralization follows a wet method, meaning you’ll keep a thin layer of ointment applied 24/7 during the healing period to maintain hydration and protect the pigment. Avoid letting your lips dry out or crack.

Use a clean straw or a new cup for every meal or drink to prevent bacteria from entering the open skin. Avoid smoking, kissing, or any other mouth-related activity during the first several days. When brushing your teeth, move slowly and carefully to avoid water and toothpaste coming into contact with the lips. Because of the natural wetness and constant use of the lips, it’s normal for them to heal with a soft ombré effect—the center may appear lighter as pigment retention is naturally more difficult there compared to the borders.

For lip neutralization, results continue to develop for up to 5–6 weeks, as melanin-rich skin may experience ongoing color shifts throughout the healing process. Touch-ups for either service can be scheduled 6–8 weeks post-procedure to perfect the final tone and shape.
