Welcome to Shape and Shade Studio. To ensure the highest quality results and safety for every client, we have established clear guidelines regarding medical eligibility, studio policies, and precare. Please review this guide thoroughly before scheduling your appointment.
Medical Eligibility
Applies to All Services
You are not a candidate if you are pregnant, nursing, or have infectious diseases. Please consult your physician if you are undergoing chemotherapy, have a pacemaker, or severe heart conditions. We prioritize your health above all else. Clients for all tattooing services, including PMU and body art, must be 18+ years of age. A valid, physical photo ID is mandatory at the time of your appointment. We adhere to these safety and legal standards without exception.
PERMANENT MAKEUP CONTRAINDICATIONS
To ensure the most refined aesthetic results and maintain our clinical safety standards, please adhere strictly to these eligibility requirements:
• Skin Care Actives: You must discontinue use of Retinol, Retin-A, or Tretinoin for at least 6 weeks prior to your session—no exceptions.
• Facial Treatments: The treatment area must be free from any Laser, Botox, Fillers, or Chemical Peels for a minimum of 2–4 weeks before your appointment.
• Previous PMU: All prior permanent makeup must be proactively disclosed and approved via clear photographs before booking—no exceptions.
• Age Requirement: All tattooing services, including cosmetic PMU and body art, are strictly for individuals aged 18 and over. We do not perform tattoo services on minors under any circumstances, regardless of parental consent.
• Blood Thinners: Please avoid alcohol, caffeine, or aspirin for 24 hours, and fish oil for 3 days prior to your visit.
• Studio Comfort: To maintain a sterile environment, please wear warm clothing (Yes even in the summer time!) and arrive with a valid government-issued ID ready.
Studio Policies
01. Deposit Required
A booking fee of $50 for permanent makeup/body art and $10 for piercings is required to book and hold your appointment. Invoices are due immediately upon scheduling. This amount will be credited towards your total balance. It is non refundable and we hold the right to keep it if you are late (10 min +) or are a no show. Deposits are transferrable if rescheduling with a 24 hour notice.
02. Rescheduling
Appointments are especially reserved for you. We understand that sometimes schedule adjustments are necessary. We respectfully request at least 24 hours notice for cancellations and appointment changes. In the event that you do not show up for a scheduled appointment, you will lose your booking fee and any future appointments will require a 50% payment up front. In case you were a no show or cancel the same day again, the 50% payment will not be refunded.
03. Late Arrival
Punctuality is essential. Arrivals over 10 minutes late for short sessions or 15 minutes for long sessions result in immediate cancellation. If your appointment is canceled due to tardiness, your deposit is automatically forfeited, and a new booking fee will be required to reschedule. We enforce this strictly to respect all clients' time.
04. Guest Policy
Due to limited studio space and the nature of the services being performed, a maximum of ONE adult guest is permitted per appointment. Additional guests cannot be accommodated. Children under the age of 15 are not permitted in the studio unless they are the client receiving the service. Please arrange childcare prior to your appointment, as exceptions cannot be made due to space and safety limitations. The studio is also a food and drink-free treatment space. If you or your guest need to eat or drink, please do so outside of the treatment area in the waiting area.
05. Cancellation
Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice or no-shows will forfeit the deposit. A new booking fee will be required to schedule a new visit. No shows will be allowed one
06. Touch-Ups
PMU is a two-step process. Initial touch-ups are recommended 6-10 weeks after your first session and are NOT included in the initial pricing. Touch ups are priced based on the time frame of your last service. Body art (body tattoos) do include touch ups within the inital 6 months. These complimentary follow ups can be booked via the online boking system under 'Body Art Touch Up'.
07. Payment
Remaining balance is due at the time of service. We accept Credit Cards and cash payments. Financing through Cherry is available for services over $200. Please visit our financing section to apply. Applications should be submitted and approved BEFORE receiving your service.
08. Age Requirements
Permanent makeup and body art clients must be 18+. No excpetions. Minors for piercings require parent/guardian consent. Proper identification is required for ALL services.
09. Refusal of Service + Studio Etiquitte
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for medical or safety concerns. To maintain the highest standards of care and focus, please book your session during a time when you have no other professional or personal obligations. This includes arranging childcare in advance, as children under the age of 15 are not permitted in the studio unless they are the client receiving a service. Our work requires patience and precision; therefore, appointments cannot be rushed or scheduled alongside remote work, active child supervision, or time-sensitive meetings. We want to ensure you receive the dedicated attention you deserve, so please prepare for your visit accordingly. Arriving with a minor without prior authorization will lead to the cancellation of your session and forfeiture of your deposit, requiring a new booking for a time when appropriate childcare has been secured.
Permanent Makeup Precare
PMU-ONLY PRECARE: Following these steps strictly is vital for optimal pigment retention and safety.
Dietary Restrictions
Do not consume caffeine or alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to your session. Avoid taking Fish Oil, Vitamin E, or any blood-thinning medications for 7 days before your appointment.
Medical & Beauty Timing
You must not have had Botox or fillers in the treatment area for at least 3 weeks. Discontinue all brow tints, laminations, or similar chemical treatments 2–4 weeks prior.
Brow Preparation
You may wax, thread, or tweeze up to 24 hours before your visit, but it is not required. I will only remove excess hair to finalize the symmetrical shape.
Day of Appointment
Please wash your hair before coming in, as you must keep your brows completely dry immediately afterward. Eat a light meal before your session to keep your blood sugar stable.
Studio Comfort
To stay cozy during the procedure, please bring your own comfort items such as a clean blanket, headphones, or a hoodie.
Lifestyle Planning
Schedule your session around holidays, vacations, or photography. Post-procedure, avoid heavy workouts, excessive water (swimming/saunas), and direct sun exposure while the area is healing.
Piercings for Minors
We provide safe piercing services for minors starting at age 6 for earlobes. Legal guardians must be present throughout the procedure.

- Legal guardianship papers (if applicable)
Piercing Requirements
Clients must be able to sit still without force. We reserve the right to stop the procedure if the minor becomes too distressed.
Finding the Studio
Located inside Salons at the Hill. Once you enter the building, follow the hallway to Suite 8. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your first session to complete final paperwork.
– All food and beverages, including coffee purchased in the building, must be consumed in the shared waiting area. No eating or drinking is permitted inside the treatment room.
– Please maintain a quiet volume in shared building spaces and respect the waiting area: ensure all children are supervised at all times, no running is permitted, and loud noises should be avoided to ensure a professional environment for everyone.
– For your relaxation, please bring headphones and head straight to our shared lounge area which is equipped with couches, benches, and restrooms. For safety and liability, the backyard and outdoor grounds are strictly off-limits; the landlord will remove anyone near the pond or water. To maintain a peaceful environment, please refrain from knocking on studio doors and simply text your artist once you have arrived.
